Daniel Fast Day 12 – Weekly Devotional

Good morning,
Day 12 of 21 of the Daniel fast is here, have you noticed any changes in your life yet? For instance, the way you pray, your expectancy of Gods promises, the way you eat or think about eating, amount of time in the Word?
This is the 4th time Kellie and I have embarked on a Daniel Fast in the last four years and each time we learn something new about the discipline of fasting and prayer. Through our time in the Word, talking about God’s Word, prayer and humbling ourselves before God fresh anointing comes, visions come, purpose, His desires are made clear.
Fasting has been one of the “things” that Kellie and I can attribute to why we have seen the results we have had in our lives and in our ministry. We realized if we would just do what the Word of God said to do that His Words would do what He said as well.
During this time of fasting, you need to immerse yourself in prayer and the reading of God Words – it’s His Words to you! But don’t stop after the fast is over – this is just a kick start to a pattern that God wants you to follow – pray, read the Word and fast when that extra power is needed.
Deut 6:6-9 TLB
6 And you must think constantly about these commandments I am giving you today. 7 You must teach them to your children and talk about them when you are at home or out for a walk; at bedtime and the first thing in the morning. 8 Tie them on your finger, wear them on your forehead, 9 and write them on the doorposts of your house!
All that time in the Word eventually will have a powerful effect on you as it has on Kellie and I. It began to change everything about us. All that didn’t happen overnight, however, it took time. A great many believers don’t realize that. They start out devoting themselves to the Word, but they make the mistake of expecting instant, miraculous results, and when they don’t see them, they get disappointed and fall away.
The Word of God feeds your spiritual man just as food feeds the body. When our bodies take in food it starts to store up the vitamins and minerals (and fat) and it takes time to see the cumulative effect of what we are taking in.Much is the same with the Word of God. It has a cumulative effect. Now don’t get me wrong at times God will act instantly and perform a miracle, but only to get things back on track. What He intends for us to do is feed on His Word to grow in strength, wisdom, and in faith to bear fruit in due season.
As you’re learning to be more like Christ – a new creature, Don’t give up! Be patient, give the Word time to do its work. Practice what His Word says, be obedient to His instructions and the results “WILL COME!”
Matt 4:4 TEV
4 But Jesus answered, “The scripture says, ‘Man cannot live on bread alone, but needs every word that God speaks.’
